As an investment banker and operator, Doug has deep experience in software (SaaS, HR Technology (HCM), Marketing Technology, Sales Force Automation and CRM) as well as tech-enabled services.
Doug is a Managing Director of Bulger Partners, leading our North American Mergers & Acquisitions activities. He has spent two decades as an adviser, investment banker, operator and investor in tech companies. He has advised CEOs, Boards and investors on strategic decisions as well as significant financing and M&A transactions. Doug has been active in a number of tech sectors, most notably HR Technology (HCM) where as VP Corporate Development he led the sale of Vurv Technology to Taleo, and subsequently advised Taleo and other industry leaders such as Salary.com and Skillsoft.
Prior to joining Bulger Partners, Doug was a founding member of Thomas Weisel Partners, a leading global technology investment bank, and Thomas Weisel Venture Partners, an early stage technology venture fund, where he primarily advised and invested in enterprise software companies, with particular emphasis on the digital marketing and recruitment sectors. Doug also led corporate development for Vurv Technology, a leading provider of talent management software solutions, culminating in the largest acquisition made by Taleo, who was subsequently acquired by Oracle.
In addition to investment banking and venture capital, Doug has professional experience as an operator and member of the leadership team for two software businesses, contributing across a wide range of disciplines including corporate strategy and development, sales and marketing, account management and client services.
